Summer Break

Thanks to all for coming down to Boiling Point at Take 5 last Saturday. That's it for the summer..... we'll see you all again in the Autumn, but keep watching the site in case I have news of one off events, groovy record purchases and other stuff! March 29, Next Gig @ Take 5

Just a reminder for the next gig on the 29th March when we'll be joined by the incomparable "Rockin RnB" Mr MacLean, along with my usual partner in crime, The Anthropologist aka Mark C. Take 5 cellar has had a makeover, so now it's not only the music that has a tropical theme, great for banishing those never ending winter blues.
Great to see my mate Samy Ben Redjeb in Norwich! After my trip to Frankfurt to guest at the Africa Delay night to promote the release of his new Cd compilation"African Scream Contest" last week-end he was guesting at a wedding party with me at Take 5. As you see there was much dancing behind the decks also!Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.Sorry to all who listened into the last Boiling Point radio show,i prerecorded it before going to Frankfurt and unfortunatly someone at the station thought it was a old show and unloaded it Anyway my thanks to Malcolm and Mike for standing in after their show, luckily Simone managed to reload and you got half the show!!

Thanks to all my guest DJs for a great night last week, especially the wonderful Mr Maclean who had the floor bopping non stop. Next one will be February 23, as usual we will be packing out the cellar at Take 5, our favourite Norwich venue. Don't forget to check out our My Space site for up to date videos and photos.

I'm pleased to have Sure-D (Marvel/Def Tex) as our special guest on the 23rd bringing his brand of afro funk , looks like its gonna be another packer with regular guests Spen and Mark plus I've had some wicked tunes arrive this week . I'm sorting through them right now ,another killer from the 60s from Malian multi insrumentlist Sorry Bamba,one of the toughest 7" from the Guinian syliphone label by Balla and his Balladins and, by a real fluke, I've found a cracker Ivory Coast EP by Mamadou Doumbia plus yet another Baobab LP find along with the legendary Ebo Taylor LP....... oh and the 1st record by Kante Manfila with the Ambassadours !!!

First Gig of 2008, January 26 @ Take 5

We're back to end of the month for the first 2008 gig, with old and new guest DJs, but the same mix of sizzling sounds.

Anna Mudeka @ Norwich Arts Centre

To all lovers of African music, Anna Mudeka, our fantastic Norwich based singer, and her band will be at Norwich Arts Centre this Saturday. For those of you who missed the wonderful Bassekou Kouyate (shame on you!) here is another chance to enjoy some great live music. Word is out that you will also be able to pick up some great Xmas presents straight from Senegal, in the foyer that evening. www.norwichartscentre.co.uk

Next Boiling Point Gig; Take 5 December 1st

What a fantastic night at the Arts Centre to hear Bassekou Kouyate, the best gig of the year for me! Me and Mrs Boiling Point are still croaky from all the whoopin and hollerin! Listen out for a track on the Boiling Point My Space site.

Don't forget the next Take 5 gig, December 1st, the last for 2007! More fantastic tunes from the likes of Amare Toure (a dance floor killer at the last gig) and lots more tasty tunes up our sleeves! Along with our regular DJs, Spenny, the Anthropologist and Mr Maclean, we are pleased to welcome back the Madhatter with some spicy latin grooves. Be there, and get your dancing shoes on, you know it makes sense!
Look out for our re-branded fliers designed for us by the wonderful Kettle of Fish team, yes we've still got our palm tree logo, and it's a chilli hot red so you're sure to see us in the crowd!

Last night

Thanks to all friends old and new for turning out on Nov 3 to Take 5 for another Boiling Point extravaganza! Who needs fireworks when you can watch the musical sparks fly and warm yourselves with spicy, red hot tropical sounds?.


Mr Maclean, Spenn and the Anthrologist did us proud as usual, and thanks to the Madhatter for his short but sweet guest spot. Also it was celebrations all round, with a happy birthday to Finn and the lovely Jules.
Next one will be Saturday December 1st, our last of 2007. This is promising to be another fantastic night in one of the few remaining Norwich venues where you can still find a great eclectic mix of music ! Worth saving yourself for this one!
